President Clinton visited Ottawa on October 8, 1999 to dedicate the new U.S. Embassy building. This was the first time that a U.S. President had dedicated a U.S. Embassy in person. Check here for photos and texts of remarks.
On an earlier visit in September 1999, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton dedicated 'Conjunction', the soaring and inspirational sculpture by Joel Shapiro which is installed on the grounds of the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa.
