MS St. Louis Commemorative Project
Starting January 25th, in partnership with the Jewish Youth Library in Ottawa, the Embassy is supporting the MS St. Louis Commemorative Project. The Project will tell the story of the journey of the MS. St. Louis, which set sail on May 13, 1939, from Hamburg, Germany to Havana, Cuba. Aboard were 937 mostly German Jewish refugees seeking safety from war-torn Europe. The ship was turned away from Cuba, United States and Canada and had to return to Europe.
